Eighteenth Wish

from All Impulses by Blue Chain Language

about

This is a remake of an older song and is probably the recording I am most proud of, in anything I have ever done. The idea to rework this song with Ashley started way back in 2007 during the one and only BCL live show when I was able to hear back some of the harmonies she did then and I remember thinking about doing an acoustic version of this song with her at the show, but tossing the idea as it wouldn't have matched the aesthetic of the performance piece. The song is about leaving and starting over in a new place.

lyrics

It slowly takes in over some quiet days
The drones that send me to sleep can start haunting
I thought of heading out to Northwest Angle
Just try to make it alone
Unless you wanted to travel there with me
We'll leave this place far behind especially
Take to The Lake of the Woods to escape it
Nobody's being warned

Whoa, the aftermath
What's after that?

Now we have the chance to come undone
We add distance from what was hanging on
And you are my home
Now we're safe within the confines of our immediacy
(Nobody's being warned)
We can rest here forever

Whoa, the aftermath
What's after that?
