about

'Pilotless' is the sixth release from Blue Chain Language. I recorded these songs between my senior year (and a half) at college and the first six months or so after finishing school. This is the first album I finished that had no instrumentals on it, which was a big deal for me at that time as everything I put together before this was half instrumental, half sung-over songs. I took a lot more time with the production of this album as well, trying to make it sound as big and as crisp as I possibly could. The songs continue to trend toward a more pop-song format and some more of my R&B, Hip-Hop influences come to the forefront here. I also took about three times as long recording vocals for this album since I have always seen this as the weakest part of my previous albums. So, hopefully you enjoy the result of more time and effort!

Track Name: Less Talk, More Decisive Measure
Wake up swiftly
Caffeine for currency
Wake up from dreaming
Less sleep for currency
Well I’ve been living like this for a while
Gears are grinding at the thought of leaving here
I’ve been contemplating for a year still
Right now, where am I?
Caught in the lights, unprepared for the brightness

Well I’ve been thinking like this for a while
Head is humming at the thought of leaving you
I’ve been practicing all broken-hearted
Right now, where am I?
Caught in the lights, unprepared for the brightness
But I’ll love you like I’ve prepared all my life

Let’s start this over on another route
Here we go
Here we go
Less talk, more decisive measure
Now you know
Now you know
Track Name: Thunder Bay Inn
Now that we’ve met, discussions on
Setting the sun
As it was done
Decades ago
We’ll ride to Hazelwood tonight
Intrigue, indeed
Watching you breathe
Deeper than me

You say you’re unfamiliar
Listen
Visit
Room seven Thunder Bay Inn
That’s where

We separated at the beach
The smell of the fire
Clings to me now
Trailing taillights
So then at 11:02
Entering minutes after you
We knew exactly what to do
Let our bodies tell the truth

I was in your arms
Until breaking dawn
We were unaware
And needed repair
Without a warning you had departed
Before the morning you weren’t near

I was afraid to second guess
So I just left
You thought the same thing
I just beat you to it
So I hold you to your word
Hold my breath as I unfold
The note you left on your pillow
The words you wrote are cold but true
Track Name: Refine
For love I lack, a firing team at my back
For love I lament, scanning the sky
For your satellite
Reflecting light

To save you from the night
To shake this from inside
To take the time, refine
I’m making promises
To break my efforts like
A separate sting all while
You take my breath, revive
I’m making promises

To love you like you should be loved is what I can do
The love you like is all destructive nights on the fall
To love you like you should be loved is what I can do
The love you like is sure to break your lucid allure

It turns me out
I’ll drown
This behavior tonight
Make you mine

To save you from the night
To shake this from inside
To love you like you should be loved is what I can do
To save you from the night
To take the time, refine
To love you like you should be loved is what I can do
Track Name: Reappearing Act
The right way in, wrong way out
Before you know they're gone

It’s the only way I would stay
Feeling you had more to say
But that’s all you’ve got
Slur and flirt for your worth on the weekend
It’s the only claim that I made
Betting on your vanity
‘Cause that’s all you’ve got
To lead you to inescapable places
All the rightness I found
I can’t ignore the wrong

Nobody’s there for you when
You're better left alone
Track Name: The Offer
When I watch you move
I want to move too
But I know better
You had to wear the dress
You wore when we met
I know it well
I was admittedly infatuated with the sound of your breath
When I watch you move
I want to move too
But I know better

(Allocate my empty space you can have it all
as soon as you figure you can't...)

Like a circle I
Bend all the time
When I want you
Captured every night
In neon light
You have known that
I was admitted with symptoms similar to that of regret
Now I watch you move
And I want to move too
But I’m know better

Allocate my empty space you can have it all
As soon as you figure you can’t
Oversee that property pawn it off
(At least you gave it a shot, when I)
Track Name: Meet Me In the Lovelight
Know everything is all right
Adjusting to sleepless nights
Re-ignite my only heart
Uncover what keeps me up
All my faulty wiring
Illuminates then retreats

But if it’s too bright at first
Allow your eyes to adjust
Then meet me in the lovelight
And take your time it’s alright

All the photographs are digital
My confidence - unrecoverable
It’s how we react-I miss that the most
Oh the summer was irreplaceable

It’s how we react
I miss that the most
Track Name: Simple Rule
Run around
It’s alright
(I know it happens every time)
Drink tonight
It’s alright
(It works every time)
Break my heart
‘Cause you know
Lovers come
Lovers go
(What do I know?)

It’s a simple rule
Medicine for the wound
I had found a way out
I had found you

Sun is down
It’s alright
(I know it happens every night)
Sleep tonight
It’s alright
(It works every time)
Break my heart
‘Cause you know
Lovers come
Lovers go
(What do I know?)

It’s a simple rule
Medicine for the wound
I had found a way out
I had found you
(What do I know?)
It’s a simple rule
Medicine for the wound
I am on my way now
I have lost you
I am on my way now
I have lost you
Track Name: The Starlet and The Projectionist
Your words glitch like reel-to-reels converted,
like exposures, burning pictures permanent.
But girl, I’ll meet you on cue where the frames mesh,
where shadows are broken into shades.
I’m begging you, Iris, my damsel please
spare the rods and spoil the cones.
I’m in distress over your dress, yes, I’m positive
you’re getting applause

with the gift wrap of your bones.

This moment is the climax of the fight,
Our hero might do right tonight, make the villain beg for his life
When the screen goes black and the theater empties
I’ll ask if all of this truly felt right.

To imagine you imagining me,
we’re discreet under silver screen sheets.
To imagine you imagining me,
Found you asleep where negatives bathe in bleach
To imagine you imagining me,
you’re the flood light in the eyes of the search team.
To imagine you imagining me
Track Name: Polynia
I’d like to ask you, as I pass you, would you mind?
Are you aware what you do?
No it’s all of the time
It’s enervating, without fading, alright
Holding a war
In my headphones

I’d like to see you, in a new view, tonight
You are aware what you do
And it’s no surprise
The weather’s holding, it’s a small thing, to you
You lead the way
To the boundary
I didn’t notice, that you owned this, ability

So you like it
But you hide it
Just so you know, oh
We never felt the same thing
At the right height
In lunar light
Just so you know, oh
I‘ve never seen the same way
So you like it
But deny it all
It seems wrong
But I’m offering

You had me then
You had me then
You had me then
You have again
Track Name: Fluorescent
Too many girls, breaking the rules losing alibis
Come out at night
It’s safe to say with plans of taking lives
Everyone knows, but offer the world for a second glance
I don’t know why
I fall in love every night

If you feel like I do tonight
I know you’re mine
If you feel like fluorescent light

Too many times, too many tries, from this company
She lets her eyes
Cut through the room finally landing on mine
I could be fine, tell me you're mine from the other side
I’m paralyzed
I thought I knew better
Out of nowhere, my heart takes over my body
I’ll reconcile
My mind is always one or two steps behind

Let's go, I'll drive
Track Name: Me and My Luck
Oh, whatever
We’ve seen until now
Let it fade out
Oh, whatever
You’ve thought up to now
Let it fade out

If I could say the words
That travel the distance
Complete with persistence
Is that good enough for you?
If I could say the words
I’d enter your airspace
I’d travel the whole day
Is that good enough for you?
If I could say the words
That travel the distance
They’re more than consistent
Is that good enough for you?
And when I said the words
Your lips parted and you
Answered: “I’m afraid to admit to it again.”

Dive in for your heart's sake
Then take me away
If that's good enough for you
It's good enough for me
Dive in for you heart’s sake
Or stay where you’ve been
If that’s good enough for you
It’s good enough for me
Track Name: Tuned to the Room
I'll whisper what you want to hear
Just close your eyes and draw me near
Tuned to the room we share the air
Forget that war outside here

I'll love you like I've prepared all my life
I've prepared all my life
